Lot 1031 Early Reciprocating Folder Prototype c1880 - Mining Hard goods/Important Mining Publications
This is a reciprocating folder with a spike and hook. It is made of iron and has some wear from use. Measures about 5.25” and 8” folded and unfolded. There is a screw on the side that allows for movement and security of the spike and hook. There are some other similar folders made later on in the 19th Century; the Aetna Power Co. For example made a similar one [Wendell & Wilson #267]. This folder most likely was a prototype do to the bulky movement and large screw. Not listed in Wilson, RCS 39 - Ken & Rosemary Roberts Collection
